2010 CYCLE CHALLENGE - SUN CITY TO TABLE BAY CHARITY CYCLE TOUR .

The Charity Cycling Club will for the 8th consecutive year host the Sun City to Table Bay Charity Cycle Tour which will take place in March 2010 when a team of approximately 40 cyclists will cycle the entire distance of 2010 kilometers in 10 days. The team will include International riders from Germany, Austria, Chad and Dubai and a multi cultural team from South Africa which includes riders from previously disadvantaged communities and lady cyclists.
Back ground:
In 2003, Sun City staff, all recreational cyclists, recognized the dire need to support local communities in and around the Sun City Resort in the North West Province, South Africa. They decided to commit themselves by putting an event together whereby they can raise funds towards assisting various charity organizations. A decision was reached and the Charity Cycle Tour, departing from the Sun City Resort and arriving at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town, were set in motion. All the cyclists cycle the total distance of 1,645 kilometers and challenge businesses, individuals and organisations, to sponsor the Tour and ultimately the various Charity Organizations, through financial contributions. Since the tour’s inception, sponsors donated more than R 2,000,000, which has been donated, in the first 3 years to CANSA and there after the funds has been donated to Nazareth House and The Orphanage Housing Project. Since the team changed it focus to the Orphanage Housing project, adequate funds were raised to build 10 houses which were handed over to the Sun City Community and Social Investment project.
